This past weekend, we celebrated Thanksgiving in Canada. I love this time of year because it just gives me so much to think about and reflect on while also getting time to spend with family and enjoy the beauty of life. I am so thankful for my family and for so many things that we have the privilege of enjoying with our family. There are so many things to look back on in our life and realize that if we hadn’t dreamed big, we probably wouldn’t be where we are today.
If Tim and I hadn’t dreamed big about what we wanted to see in our life and in our family and in our business opportunities, we would never have joined Monat. It’s that simple. Because we believed that there was success out there waiting for us and we believed that we could achieve it through hard work, great passion and an amazing opportunity, we started the journey that has brought us to where we are today.
This leads me to my third piece of advice for the successful business owner: have BIG dreams. Think forward to the type of life you would like to live. For some, this may include a loving family, a great job or travelling the world. Whatever your ideal life looks like, think about the things that would need to happen in order to see that life become reality. Those are the stepping stones towards your big dreams.
Set yourself up to achieve your big dreams successfully by spending time looking at what the necessary steps are to get there. Work towards those big dreams by accomplishing the small steps.
At this point in my business, I’ve reached some of my big dreams, but there are SO many more things I can dream about that I will ALWAYS be working towards new dreams. Never give up on your current dreams and when you make it and those dreams are a reality, never stop coming up with new dreams!
As a business owner, sometimes it is easy to get comfortable with some success that we forget to keep working hard and make sure that we are focused on making the business better. Big dreams can help you stay focused and have a strong vision for your future. Lead those around you and those in your business by setting the priorities straight and giving everyone a big dream to work towards. The reward of accomplishing those dreams will give you (and your team!) so much motivation for future dreaming.
Dream big, because when you do you’ll be able to see just how much you can accomplish. Even if the road is tough and the dream seems high and unreachable, keep working towards it and I know you’ll love the view from the top.
