How I Discovered My Purpose & How You Can Too

When you think about the things that energize you and bring you joy, what does that look like?

Reflect on your life for a moment. Is there a consistent focus to your actions, decisions and joys that is visible throughout your life?

The thing that energizes you will keep popping up in your life. Your body will naturally gravitate towards “that thing”. It could pop up in all different areas, whether that be in your job, your hobby or as a volunteer! You will see patterns in what you gravitate towards that will make your purpose more clear all the time.

When I reflect, I can see how I always gravitated towards connecting with people and helping others.

I got into acting and the beauty industry as a way to meet, entertain and help people feel and look their best.

I’ve started meet up groups and online support groups where people who have similar interests can share and build relationships together.

I’ve been in network marketing for over 20 years because I was always drawn to the idea of building connections between people.

I love finding the connections that people can make with each other, or with themselves. This is what I’ve discovered is my purpose. I’ve started Million Dollar Bathrobe to continue this purpose.

When I first started my journey, I didn’t realize what purpose looked like. It didn’t feel like work, it just happened naturally because it was what brought me joy and energy. I’ve discovered that purpose can be felt anywhere.

Ask yourself this: are the things you spend your time on filling you up or draining you? If they are filling you up, identify what it is you’re doing and why it fills you up. If you are being drained, identify if there are ways to change what you’re doing so that you can be filled instead.

Pick a new hobby or volunteer somewhere that fills you up. Focus your time on things that bring you joy and even on days that feel draining, you will have something to look forward to.

For our entire lives we’ve heard that we can’t dream big because there are bills to pay. We tell ourselves we can’t have a purpose filled life. People get discouraged and never even try to pursue anything better. We get stuck in a rut and it feels hard to get out.

I wholeheartedly believe that you don’t have to be stuck. If you have a dream that you’d like to achieve one day, work towards it! If you want out of that job that drains you, make it your goal and take the necessary steps towards finding something that aligns with your purpose.

Nobody needs to be stuck. It will take time, energy and commitment and it isn’t always easy but if you commit to what you want to achieve, you will achieve it.

Remember, it took me over 20 years to get to where I am today!!! But, each step of my journey taught me more about my purpose and equipped me with things I learned along the way that I use to this day.  There are no excuses.

Commit today to aligning your life with your purpose. Commitment requires action, so set up some action steps and get started!

Connect the Dots

Sit and reflect on what you gravitate towards. Notice the patterns. What is connected? What job or activity brought you the most joy? Are you doing anything right now that brings you joy? If not, why not?

Start living a life focused on what makes you uniquely you and watch how your actions transform. You may start off small but watch it grow as you put time and attention into it.
